Read for the Record Event

Thursday, September 13, 3:30 p.m.
Aliso Viejo Library Community Room

Children and parents are invited to enjoy an afternoon of stories, crafts, and snacks at the Aliso Viejo library! Each family will receive their very own copy of The Story of Ferdinand, by Munro Leaf, to read again together on September 20 as part of the nationwide Read for the Record event.

Jumpstart's Read for the Record is a national campaign designed to encourage hundreds of thousands of children and adults from across the country to read the same book on the same day. It connects young children and adults in the early learning experiences that help children thrive.

Author visit

We are very pleased to announce that author Neal Shusterman will be speaking at the Aliso Viejo Library on Monday, August 20, at 3:30 pm!

Mr. Shusterman has written over 20 books, primarily for teens and children ages 10 and up. The Schwa was Here has been nominated for a California Young Reader Medal, Everlost is being made into a feature film, and Downsiders will be adapted as a TV movie. Additionally, he has written for the Goosebumps and the Animorphs TV series. Find out more about this award-winning author at http://www.myspace.com/nealshusterman and http://www.storyman.com/

We have copies of Mr. Shusterman's books available at the library, so come pick them up and start reading! Because he writes for older children and teens, this event is limited to ages 8 and up. Please stop by the Children's Desk or call (949) 360-1730 to let us know you'll be joining us.
