The future of libraries
One of Aliso Viejo Library's most beloved staff members recently retired and published below is an exerpt of an appreciation letter I received from a very happy customer:
"As you no doubt already know, you have a remarkable boon to the library and the community in the person of Cinda. Our good fortune to meet her came when she organized the Wednesday evening Philosophy group. We have been meeting for about two years and every session has been enjoyable and mentally stimulating.
She has shown what a library can and should be. The library is not just a place to get books for a short period of time. Thanks to Cinda, the Aliso Viejo Library is also a place where people can meet and talk about issues of the day. The library has become more truly a part of the community and a force in generating a feeling of community. Thank you for providing the resources to make it happen.
Sincerely,
The Wednesday Philosophy Discussion Group Members"
As our reference questions start to dwindle, it will become increasingly important for us to look for new ways to engage the community, and this program was clearly on the right track!
